Role Overview

The Product Configuration Manager reports directly to the Head of Engineering (Chief Engineer). This will include establishing our ways of working, covering all aircraft development and production processes & techniques, including practical and contractual matters at both, the company and program level.

You’ll be defining milestones/goals, incrementally configuring & controlling the aircraft level design, along with resolving problems in conjunction with engineering groups, manufacturing, supply chain and quality assurance. You’ll also work with the operational excellence team to translate business requirements into lean, state-of-the-art product configuration policies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable creation of company products. This role will initially be a hands-on experience, but has the opportunity to expand to leading a small team of configuration managers.

You will also:

Manage the aircraft configuration – covering the full scope of structures, interiors, systems installation and all systems equipment coming from our suppliers/partners.

Defining & cascading aircraft level policies for design configuration management, configuration recording & control and change management for internal and external utilization.

Ensure that the bi-directional communication link and flow of data from design and production organizations robustly meets the regulatory (EASA Part 21 Subpart J and Subpart G) requirements whilst striving to continuously improve in line with Opex initiatives.

Drive the development and implementation of operating methods and procedures to eliminate bottlenecks, problems, improve product quality and efficiency.

Define and develop the customization and modification batching policies in line with the Chief Engineer, Head of Program Management and Head of Production Operations.

Co-define and develop the post-certification modification procedure with the Chief Engineer and Head of Airworthiness & Certification.

Establish Change Board and Chair/Oversee Change Board Reviews on behalf of the Chief Engineer.

Create and maintain the program configuration management plan in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and Head of Program Management.

Development of aircraft level configuration documents/reports, supporting configuration status & verification and certification activities.


Qualifications & Experience

-
Excellent Communication Skills / Strong People Management skills

-
Previous experience in an Aerospace (Commercial or Defense) product configuration management environment - A minimum 8 year's experience, ideally covering aircraft structures and systems configuration topics

Experience with aircraft manufacturing programs through the entire design, development, certification and production lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25)

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or similar desired

Ability to influence at all levels of an organization

Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical problem solving and strategic thinking skills

-
Experience in implementation & scale up of industrialization programs through implementation of lean methodologies

Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English

Eagerness to work with others

Passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission
