The department of Product Safety Compliance (PSC) is now looking for a Risk Manager to focus on the areas of Product Cyber Security & Functional Safety and to contribute to fulfil our vision of zero accidents.

About us


The Safety Compliance department responsibilities include Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Change Management within product safety. We set product safety requirements and project target values as well as ensuring product/project compliance with applicable legislation over time.
The transformation journey means introducing electromobility, automation and connectivity into our marine and industrial applications. These new technologies bring new security/safety risks and new regulatory areas. To manage this will be vital for our future success over the next coming years. The PSC responsibility for type approval and product certification of marine and industrial products is essential to safeguard our core value of Safety and to secure compliance.
The PSC department is part of the function Quality, Environment and Product Compliance. PSC currently consists of 15 highly engaged and qualified people who look forward to meet their new colleague.

In this vital position you will be present at all stages of the product lifecycle that are affected by product cyber security and functional safety. You will work with customers and external stakeholders who have an interest in safe & secure products. Since interaction with both external and internal contacts are crucial for achieving results, good networking and communication skills are of high importance. As Risk Manager at PSC a strategic mind and ability to make good judgements are required.
The Cybersecurity & Functional Safety risk manager will report to the Director Safety Compliance, who is the owner of Volvo Penta’s core value Safety.


Core responsibilities
Your main responsibility will be to drive, improve and govern our ways of working regarding Cybersecurity and Functional Safety Risk Management, with the objective to secure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
Enabling of risk assessment and coaching of internal functions, as well as customer projects to be able to plan and conduct risk assessments.
Following up on Volvo Penta’s overall risk management performance, monitoring and treatment of risks
Understand new standards and support Product Development architects and system owners.
Attend and report in governance forum on safety & security



Desirable experience and qualifications
Master of Science degree or similar level of education
Risk management experience (Process, methods, documentation, mitigation)
Support in incident management
Broad understanding of security/safety regulations & standards e.g. IEC 62443, ISO/SAE 21434, UNR155/156, IACS UN E26/27, ISO 26262, ISO 13849
Experience of security architecture
Experience within the field of Functional Safety
Experience in the field of New Technologies, e.g. electromobility, automation and connectivity
A structured and accurate way of working
Fluency in English is an absolute minimum
Fluency in Swedish gives a strong advantage
Good communication skills, both in terms of reports, presentations and in discussions
