Product Developer - Textile platform, Shared Solutions
New Business & Innovation, Ikea of Sweden, Älmhult
We are looking for an experienced and creative Textile Product Developer with a strong understanding of fabric manufacturing. She/he will be part of a team that develops and maintains a fabric platform to be used cross IKEA?s Business Areas. The Textile Product Developer will be creating fabrics that achieve IKEA?s overall product strategy, quality and financial objectives, focusing on simplicity, changeability and supply chain uniqueness - securing the IKEA identity in all fabrics. The Textile Product Developer delivers textile palettes that are trend right, sustainable, maintains brand integrity and aesthetics and meets all quality standards. She/he works in close cooperation with the Shared Solution Textile team and supplier as well as keeping alignment between product development and supply chain teams for IKEA?s different Business Areas.
A few of your main responsibilities will be to:
-Develop and maintain a world class fabric library together with the Shared Solution Textile team.
-Collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand business, design needs and range plans to identify opportunities.
-Analysis / interpretation / creation of textile constructions based on the business needs and at the same time securing the IKEA identity.
-Responsible for developing and managing a profitable and high performing fabric range to be used cross Business Areas.
-Drives macro textile research to build awareness of global textile trends.

A Product Developer is someone who have a genuine interest in developing solutions and products. Someone who have the ability to see things from a customer?s and Business Areas perspective, conceptualizing things that doesn?t exist. To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who has the ability to develop efficient solutions that works cross several Business Areas, keeping the IKEA identity through Democratic Design. Someone that can lead creative processes and cooperate effectively cross businesses, competences, suppliers. High problem solving ability and high self-awareness together with the ability to see both big picture and focus on details is of great importance together with high ability to explore different perspectives, be innovative and be comfortable in the unknown.
In order for you to be successful in the job, you need to have:
-Degree in textile design/textile engineering or equivalent and many years of experience in textile development or manufacturing.
-Experience in partnering with Design, Product Development as well as Sourcing teams and suppliers collaboration.
-Knowledge / understanding of fibers, yarn spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, finishing processes and washing techniques.
-Understanding of manufacturing of home furnishing fabrics.
-Knowledge and analysis / interpretation of textile constructions.
