The R&D Short-Hole Drilling department develops new tools for metal drilling, owning responsibility for the entire product life cycle from initial idea and concept, through construction and testing, to finished product. We are now looking to expand the highly prioritized and well established team with a Product Development Engineer, for a position offering international networking and working alongside elite field expertise, as part of a world leader within metal cutting.
Key performance areas
As our Product Development Engineer you develop new tools for metal drilling as well as knowledge platforms for product development in accordance with project charters.
Your responsibilities further include:
- Developing and maintaining competence within areas of applications, function and tool-life demands, products (own and competitors), technical development, methods and trends
- Participating in customer demand analyzes and design for manufacturing
- Initiating and working with product care
- Conducting numerical analysis
- Networking with stakeholders and holding presentations
- Performing hands on lab experiments such as test drilling and analyzing durability, vibrations, cutting forces etc.
- Striving for a knowledge-driven design culture through appropriate methods, technologies, platforms and systems, with the aim of shortening lead times and increasing flexibility and quality through increased knowledge of our products and processes
This position includes up to 20 days of traveling annually.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a degree in engineering, preferably with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Physics or Material Sciences, or the equivalent work experience. Experience from metal cutting, tool development for industrial manufacturing, product development or construction within tool development is advantageous, as is knowledge of CAD (using NX), and FEM. To keep up with the global connections inherent in the position, excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are required. Skills in additional languages, such as Swedish, are advantageous.
You are a problem solver with an analytical and strategic mindset. Your outgoing personality and solid cooperative abilities make you a good team player, but also willing to act on your own initiative. You are detail oriented and thorough, with an ability to focus on results and delivery in accordance with stated deadlines. Finally, you enjoy sharing your technical creativity and knowledge with others.
