Product Development Manager

We are currently seeking to engage a Product Development Manager to join the Wasa Business Unit in the R&D team. The position will be based in Filipstad. This is a full time permanent position that reports to the Crispbread R&D Sr Manager.

Role purpose:

In this position you will manage, along with Marketing units, the development process of new products from their conception through to the industrialization stage and contribute to the development of Barilla products portfolio with focus on the assigned categories. The development of new products is carried out with the support of the Pilot Plant, also located in Filipstad. You will scout new materials/suppliers and define which ingredients are more suitable for the products from a quality, safety and economic stand point in collaboration with Q&FS and supply chain teams. You will enable and guarantee the growth of the Wasa brand through innovations and organic geo-expansions.


Key Accountabilities:

Contribute to the Product Development Strategy together with the manager and Marketing team and develop the final product starting from design definition, prototyping to industrial production
Organize, conduct & document lab, pilot plant and industrial trials to optimize and define recipe and production parameters, support consumer research and select manufacturing solutions
Prepare product standard specifications, including physical, chemical, organoleptic and microbiological characteristics
Define product shelf-life by doing structured evaluations with consumers, specialists and sensory panel test
Working with the Industrialization team and Plants, organize and conducts production startup assuring product delivery in accordance with projects milestones
Mantain a constant awareness of competitor activity



Your Profile:

We are looking for a structured, responsible and innovative person with attention to details. You are curious about the industry and keeping yourself updated on business trends and new products in the market. You have strong communication skills and enjoy working with many different people and cultures. You have an academic degree in Food Technology Engineering or similar. You have excellent knowledge in English. We trust that you have strong computer skills and are used to working with administration and documentation. Further, you enjoy working independently and proactively to ensure success of your own projects and have a strong drive to constantly improve processes. You have previous experience working in an International environment, preferable in the food sector.
