At Epidemic Sound we are reinventing the music industry. Our carefully curated catalog, with over 35,000 tracks, is tailored for storytellers, streaming services, and in-store soundtracks. Countless clients around the world, from broadcasters, production companies, DSPs, and YouTubers rely on our tracks to help them tell their stories. Epidemic Sound’s music is heard in hundreds of millions of online videos daily, across millions of playlist streams, and in thousands of in-store locations. Headquartered in Stockholm, we’re spread across offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Seoul, Hamburg, and Amsterdam. We’re growing fast, have lots of fun, and are taking the music industry with us.
We are now looking for a seasoned product leader to lead our Music product domain.
How you will make an impact
We are constantly increasing and improving our portfolio of products which are based around a diverse, high quality library of restriction-free music. The scope of this product domain is to: (1) build the tools and user experience to work with artists that create music, and (2) manage and distribute the music in a relevant form for both storytellers and listeners.
This role will be a major driving force in company-wide strategic concerns such as:
- What experiences do we build to help storytellers find the music they need?
- What experiences do we build to become the best destination for emerging artists?
- How will we harness technological advances to improve the experiences of both artists and storytellers?
- What can we do to help creators fuel their creative and commercial success?
- How can we connect our large network of storytellers with their massive audiences with our artists for their mutual success?
Day to day tasks
- Drive significant impact for both artists and storytellers by shipping products and product changes that improve their experience
- Set strategy and lead change and strategic initiatives with the team and other stakeholders.
- Inspire and influence PMs and their colleagues to steer towards overall objectives creating enough space for them and their teams to operate as effectively and autonomously as possible.
- Assign ownership of tasks/projects/problems within the product domain.
- Communicate and align priorities internally and externally.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment and define appropriate forums and processes to stay aligned.
- Responsible for product domain metrics, how we set goals, how they impact budget and how we are tracking against objectives.
- Review performance, set development targets, perform yearly salary reviews, and conduct regular 1:1s with team members.
- Address skill gaps on your team through effective and empowering mentoring, coaching, and management
- Recruit, attract, and retain a diverse team of top product management talent.
- Represent product alongside counterparts in analytics, design, and engineering.
Ownership
- Lead product planning and strategy for the music domain.
- Manage PMs in several music teams.
- Responsible for the operational effectiveness of the team, making sure all PMs are aligned with challenging goals and working on the most important items to move the product experiences forward.
- Together with your peers, you are responsible for developing and executing strategies and plans for developing products and technology within the domain.
- Together with your peers, you are responsible for allocating resources across the domain and teams and for continuous evolution/optimization of teams and responsibilities.
- Ensure team health and employee satisfaction with members of the team.
- Responsible for the investment of resources in the domain.
Who you are
You have extensive experience in product management, first and primarily as an individual contributor and then as a manager of PMs. You have a strong history of shipping impactful product changes to users. You make PMs and teams perform at their best, knowing what great looks like in terms of the product craft, culture, and helping our organization in getting there. At the same time, you take a critical mind to your own ideas and believe that being challenged by colleagues leads to even better ideas and innovation.
You have the ability to navigate and drive mission-critical strategic initiatives on an executive level, and can balance these against lower priority work. You are used to influencing decision-making at all levels within an organization and have excellent communication skills.
We believe you have/are:
- Extensive experience in product management, shipping products for 10+ years
- Product leadership experience with a team of 5+ PMs
- A visionary leader and a positive force
- Stockholm-located
