WHAT IS THE AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!
This is the great opportunity to be part of something never done before –being part of a huge digital transformation. You will be leading a technology transformation from an outsourced landscape to internally built products, services and integrations into scaled platforms. You have the opportunity to be a major part of building and growing agile software development teams and the culture, balancing direction and autonomy. You will do this with an emphasis on empowered teams and delivery to agreed commitments, along with strong leadership skills.


WHO YOU ARE?
As Head of Engineering, reporting to me, you will utilize your strategic thinking by balancing immediate priorities against long term technical direction.
For you to have success in this role we believe you have advanced training in computer science or equivalent. You have experience from leading a technology transformation from outsource landscape to internally built products, services and integrations into scaled platforms. You have previously been in a position where you successfully developed teams and leaders.
We also see you have knowledge in following areas:
• Extensive software engineering practices including BDD, TDD, test automation, DevOps, code versioning, with experience of using industry standard toolsets (from ground up, e.g. you will need to lead by example)
• Designing and architecture of concepts (i.e. microservices) and ability to apply knowledge within the development cycle
• The needs of the service management and operations phase, including L2/L3 support, incident and problem management
• Technologies and best practices within modern retail or similar industries.
• Product and services, as well as relevant cloud services in relation to the People domain.
• You have at least 3 years’ experience from building and growing engineering teams and culture, balancing direction setting and autonomy.
• Previous knowledge of BI tools and Analytics, Machine learning, AI is a plus but not mandatory
You will:
• Lead and motivate a large team of passionate engineers, through technical direction and people skills, including both internal and external colleagues (contractors and 3rd party vendors).
• Act as a role model to attract new talent as well as supporting the continual development of the team, including recruitment, performance, competence and career development of individuals.
• Develop and deliver the technology roadmap for a group of core IKEA products or platforms.
• Maintain a balance between the delivery of a core technology agenda and driving the functional change to support the businesses growth ambitions.
• Be accountable for all parts of the technology development lifecycle in your area; from design & strategy to support & operation.
• Take shared ownership for the business outcome (jointly with peer in product organization) and act as single point of contact for all technology aspects.
• Act as a senior member of the broader technology organization, expected to represent technology both internally within IKEA and external in the market.
• Continually review and analyze business trends, technologies and opportunities with the objective of continually improving the areas capability.
• Drive the adoption of Inner Source and Community of Practice within Ingka Group


ABOUT THIS WORK AREA
At Group Digital, we set the digital agenda to enable IKEA to become the world´s leading omnichannel home furnishing!
We drive the development, provision and operation of our data enabling digital products and services using new and existing technology (e.g. Oracle, GCP, SAP) with agile delivery methods. At the same time, we provide a home for digital skills to both develop and extend technical, people and business skills needed to continuous development and growth.
The Data Pipelines capability, part of the Business Support domain, covers all the technology products that cater for the needs of our systems to manage sales and purchasing business transactions whilst we develop and grow our business model. We also enable the consumption and sharing of critical enterprise master data and analytics. This in turn enables cross domain analytics products and insights for the global Ingka (IKEA Retail) organization. In terms of technology, it is about developing new and evolving digital products that will provide our digital systems and analytics products with timely insights about business development based on data that is trusted, secure and sustainable. Ultimately, enabling better, more timely decisions on the development of our business.
We are big believers in enabling our leaders to act with autonomy and as such you would lead on the technical decisions of how you want to build and implement your products.
The position is located in Helsingborg or Malmö.
