IKEA Business Area Bedroom and Bathroom is where the Bedroom and Bathroom products are created with influence from all over the world, created for the many people all over the world and where you now have the chance to grow and make a difference as a Product Improvement Engineer. We are looking for someone who are motivated by making our products better through continuous improvements!
The role as Product Improvement Engineer is the one of a technical project leader who has the willpower to drive the improvements of the existing product range. The capability to improve the customers experience and move our quality level will be of great importance for the PIE.
In the assignment the Product Improvement Engineer will:
-Be responsible to define improvement projects based on the priorities from the business plan together with the product development team.
-Be responsible to plan and lead continuous technical improvements projects on affordability, quality and sustainability which includes structure, time management and follow-up on projects.
-Anchor product improvement projects with relevant stakeholders
-Handle resource planning for identified product improvement projects
-Identify, involve, plan and lead needed resources for the product improvement projects
-Contribute to the Business Plan with conclusions from the running range performance analysis
-Dimension the project improvement portfolio - both from an ambition level but also understanding it from a resource level
In order to be successful in the role the person we are looking for needs to:
-Have former experience from leading technical projects with an emphasis on technical improvements
-Have a broad production understanding from primarily wood and flatline industries.
-Be able to act and lead short and long term projects regarding technical improvements
-Have experience when it comes to verification planning, quality strategy, quality measurements and root cause analysis.
-Know the basic IT tools you are going to use; Solid Works, Pia, PLUS, Project Management tool
-Have a university degree in engineering or equivalent
-Be fluent in English, both spoken and written
Communication and informal leadership skills are important in the role. The PIE have to communicate with a variety of different stakeholders in a clear, pedagogic and structured way.
Project management is a main part of the daily work which requires the ability to see, start and lead initiatives with a strong drive and an urge to work in team constellations with a well-developed ability to prioritize among assignments.
The PIE is a solution finder who is comfortable to delegate and work in the unknown, create strong relationships with others and create togetherness.
