Working as a Product Lifecycle Engineer is a good way to get to know the IKEA products, way of working and be close to the core of our product development! It´s about making a better everyday life for the many people together with a longtime perspective.
Right now we are looking for 2 Product Lifecycle Engineers to our organisation in Älmhult, Sweden.
What is the role all about?
The Product Lifecycle Engineer plays an important role in our business and is responsible for taking care of and maintaining our products. It is through our product we secure our mission at IKEA: “To create a better everyday life for the many people”. As Product Lifecycle Engineer you have a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many people, around the globe.
By securing that our product documentation is up-to-date and connected, you make sure that we can sell our products to the many people. You also are a key player in building up and maintaining 3D models for some of our top families of furniture. The goal for your work is to ensure a seamless integration into our new product lifecycle management system.
You see, for us to sell our wonderful products, we need have correct and complete information in our system, otherwise we lose our steering points. This is where you come in: You critically review the existing designs and create 3D according to our IKEA documentation guidelines and standards. You do this in close dialogue with our different product development teams, development partners and suppliers, so we hope you enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and being part of the action. To succeed in your role, you need to be able to take and give responsibility, lead yourself and work together with stakeholders from different functions and departments throughout our organisation.
So, in short you are going to work with the following areas:
Work in SolidWorks to create CAD and drawings for our top families
Lead dialogue and collaboration with our development suppliers to secure detailed product information
Manage technical product documentation including CAD in our PLM system Windchill
Navigate and collaborate with stakeholders across the IKEA organization

Who are we looking for?
You are an Engineer in the beginning of your career, with a university degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. If you are having some experience in working with product development and/or creation and maintenance of product documentation it´s a plus.
Your knowledge in 3D drawings and SolidWorks will be considered as an added advantage. You work in a structured way with analytical skills and to take the lead in your own work, as well as in your contacts with internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, you have strong communication skills and building good relations based on trust. IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world and you therefore need to be fluent in English both verbal and written.
The first step into our organisation and a career at IKEA:
You will start you journey at IKEA by being employed to our Range and Product Engineering matrix, responsible to lead the engineering activities and initiatives across IKEA of Sweden.
This role and assignment is tailored to give you the skills, so that you can take on a role as (for example) Mechanical Design Engineer in one of our development teams working daily with creating new products for IKEA later on.
In the assignment you will work closely with stakeholders across the IKEA world, from our development teams, partners, business areas to categories and suppliers.
