What we offer
Volvo Cars and Geely are undertaking a significant industrial collaboration as they merge their combustion engine operations into a stand-alone business in order to establish a new global supplier that will seek to develop next-generation combustion engines and hybrid powertrains. This is done in several steps towards a standalone company within the Geely group. At the moment all coworkers identified are transferred into a separate company, Powertrain Engineering Sweden AB (PES), fully owned by Volvo Cars and it is within this organization that this position is now open.

The new organization will develop technologically-advanced and efficient combustion engines and hybrid powertrains for Volvo Cars, Geely Auto, Proton, Lotus, LEVC and LYNK & CO. The new stand-alone business can also supply third-party manufacturers, providing exciting growth opportunities.

The gradual electrification of the automotive industry means there will be significant ongoing demand for efficient hybrid powertrains alongside fully-electric offerings. Hybrid cars need the best internal combustion engines. This new unit will have the resources, scale and expertise to develop these powertrains.

The new business, currently operating under the name PES, will be an employer for approximately 3,000 employees from Volvo Cars and around 8,000 employees from Geely’s combustion engine operations, including research and development, procurement, manufacturing, IT, HR and finance functions.

The section/ART Engine Controls & Diagnostics is responsible for the combustion engine control and diagnostics software, and the calibration of this, in hybrid powertrains. We lead the development for controls and diagnostics with significant parts of in-house development. We launch hundreds of variants of production files every year and improve our software development process continuously to do that in high quality. The work we perform has a major impact on product quality and reliability as well as legal compliance.

What you’ll do
As a product manager, you will lead the ART in order to deliver software and calibrations for engine control and diagnostics for our petrol and diesel engines. You will be in the eye of the storm for most deliveries from the organisation in the late project phases. To your support you have teams dedicated to different technical areas as combustion, after treatment or diagnostics. These teams are each lead by a product owner. You also have calibration leaders who work as project managers for the ART calibration delivery in each project.

Apart from being responsible for the actual deliveries in the different projects you will also be responsible for development of efficient calibration and validation methods.

You and Your Skills
You have a university degree within engineering or solid experience from automotive development, as well as good knowledge in the area of engine control and/or diagnostics. Good understanding of powertrain design and/or legal requirements within the emission, diagnostic and dependability areas would be considered beneficial.

We believe you are passionate about cars, both from a customer and technical point of view. You have a track record of demonstrating people leadership and business acumen, further you possess the ability to delegate and prioritize in stressful periods.

You will also need to a passion for people and for the technology we develop, in order to lead and guide the development in expected direction. We see that you are structured and likes to continuously improve current working processes.  As a person, you are goal and result oriented, with a high level of engagement and a strong enthusiasm.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, therefore, it is crucial to be good at cross-functional work and networking. You also need to possess great communication skills, you are fluent in spoken and written English, Swedish is beneficial.
