Job Purpose
. Product Management identifies urgent and pervasive problems a market is willing to pay to solve. Your contribution is to select the best value creation opportunities within strategic plan, product line, time and resources boundaries. You manage the (whole) product(s) through their entire life cycle.
. Your market understanding, your direct and indirect contacts with the customer base, nurtured by a strategic product vision, will enable you to target innovative and differentiated solutions to market problems. You manage the product contract with your counterparts to insure requirements compliancy and successful product launch
. All technical information and value creation around product is the responsibility of Product Management for existing and developing products. You will need to communicate with all areas of the company and with its business partners and to support them with relevant Product information.
Main Accountabilities
. Articulate strategy for the Product Line with all relevant stakeholders. Shall deliver a 5 year strategic business plan for the Product line with growth, profitability and market share targets
. Define gap analysis and goals to execute the strategy
. Lead roadmap definition with all relevant stakeholders to deliver on business plan targets and produce product directives with prioritized requirements
. Monitor on roadmap execution within time, scope and cost boundaries and monitor action plans related to the product line
. Accoutable for maximizing hit rate for our sales and channel partners therefore providing relevant product information & competitive intelligence
Job Responsibilities
. Articulate the product strategy with all relevant stakeholders and in particular
- Define the markets (size, segments), the market problem leveraging intelligence sources
- Maintain the strategic business plan (SBP)
- Responsible for pricing and go to market plans
- Outline distinctive competence and monitor win/loss rate
- Monitor Product performance according to SBP and recommend corrective actions when deviating from goals
- Know your customers (buying center, key account)
. Define Product Directives and Product roadmap
- Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
- Define project Directives with all involved, prioritize list of requirements
- Arbitrate between priorities (green group, customer request & commits, roadmap) when relevant
- Chair Product Stearing Group , manage gateways and arbitrate within authority delegation
- Report to management progress and mitigation plans
. Managing the entire product(s) life cycle activities
- Chair Product Stearing Group and arbitrate within authority boundaries
- Particiapte in Design thinking
- Validate EOL programs
- Maintain all technical product information up to date
. Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
- In close loop with Marcom, Sales, After Market, Channel partners
- Generate value-added information on distinctive competence, product benefits, target customers

External Parties: Customers, Distributors, Third parties (suppliers, partners, design house), Industry Associations
Internal Parties: Sales, R&D, Operations, After Market, Marketing, Finance

Business Context
The product manager is the product line owner. They set the strategy and lead the work withing engineering, design, marketing, sales and business development. One can think of the product manager as the CEO of the product line.
A challenging aspect of the product manager is that they need to coordinate all other functions to succeed but does not have a direct reporting structure only "dotted line" to these functions.
