Ballast water treatment is one of the big growth potentials in the maritime industry, driven by environmental legislation. PureBallast – a system developed by Alfa Laval and Wallenius Water – prevents the spread of invasive organisms between the oceans. We have a market leading position since the launch in 2006, and we sell systems to ship owners and shipyards worldwide. We are in a very fast-paced market with rapid growth and will extend our team in Shanghai or Tumba with a Product Manager.
About the job
You will be part of the Global Sales, Business Development and Marketing team and will work closely with other departments in Alfa Laval to develop a continuous flow of relevant topics. Your daily work will include a wide variety of tasks:
Develop and maintain the product strategy and roadmap
Secure the competitiveness of PureBallast.
Initiate and drive various business development projects
Collect market insights and translate them into customer needs.
Product & portfolio lifecycle management
Communicate market insight to R&D, Marketing, Sales and other internal stakeholders.
Representation of market needs in product and change review councils.
Responsibility for competitor intelligence and sales material.
In this role you are expected to travel 40 days per year.
Who are you
You have a strong desire to drive market-driven projects and identify customer needs.
You believe in including customers and colleagues into the process of understanding the market and developing the product/services that is demanded.
You are competitive and like to secure market leadership by close monitoring of competition and market insight.
You have proven marketing and/or product management competences paired with good understanding of technical sales.
You have strong communication skills and like to work interdisciplinary between different departments.
You are curious by nature and used to close cooperation with sales colleagues, marketing communications and R&D teams.
What you know
You have a commercial and/or technical degree
Strong communication skills
Desire to drive market-driven projects and identify customer needs.
Background from maritime industry is a clear plus
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Experience in technical B2B sales is a must
Skilled in project management.
Experience with identifying customer needs by using human-centered design processes (e.g. Design Thinking, Service Design or similar) is a clear plus
Strong skills in English both in speaking and in writing
