Rarity Bioscience is a start-up company within liquid biopsy and mutation detection for diagnostic and cancer care originating from Ulf Landegren’s research at Uppsala University. The company is now hiring a Product Manager / Sr Scientist who will contribute to the productification and commercialisation of the company´s technology.

This position is a key role in the development of a fast, sensitive, and reliable mutation detection technology for optimal clinical decisions at the right time to improve patient outcome. The position

Rarity Bioscience is in an interesting phase of expansion with the aim to transfer the technology into an assay product, for clinical use at hospitals and within the healthcare sector. The team now needs to be reinforced by a Senior Scientist with strong industry network who will contribute to the design and manufacturing of in vitro diagnostic products for commercialisation. You will work closely with the leadership team in this productification process, driving product realization of new assays to the commercial market. As the company is going through a new and expanding phase, the position will develop over time and may play a key role in future leadership.

Responsibility includes, but is not limited to:

• Requirement management, as well as product verification and validation
• Assay performance characterization, product verification and validation
• Risk management
• Technical file management, including submissions and audits
• Support post market surveillance and vigilance activities
• Contribute to supplier control processes
• Usability assessments and customer engagement
• Product labelling, including instructions for use
• Change control, managing updates to product design
• Actively scan the market for trends, new technologies and new opportunities
• Attend medical and scientific conferences, including presenting and representing scientific and product data
• Support lab staff in improving and establishing procedures and work instructions
• Assist external partners in assay validation and establishing Lab Developed Tests using the SafeLock technology
• Aid establishment and expansion of lab operations managed in our facilities at Uppsala Biomedical Center

Your profile

To succeed in this position, you need a relevant scientific background and work experience from a similar product journey. We value your experience related to IVD products and assay development in accordance with ISO 13485. As a person you are structured, goal orientated and committed to make a difference. You are a natural leader ready to promote others with a humble approach. Further you thrive in a setting where you need to switch between strategic and operational work. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are eager to join a small but ambitious company.

Qualifications

• MSc in Molecular/Cell Biology or other relevant education, a PhD is a plus.
• 7+ years of experience from research and development within the life science / medtech industry, including assay development and risk assessment.
• Technical file management.
• Skilled in methods such as qRT-PCR, fluorescent microscopy, flow cytometry.
• Statistical methods and data analysis.

Rarity Bioscience provides ultrasensitive multiplex assays for detecting rare nucleic acid sequences in biological samples like liquid biopsies for research, pharma and clinic. Our technology platform – Rarity SuperRCA – permits read-out based on flow cytometry and already existing instrumentation.

The company was founded 2021 based on a discovery by Dr Lei Chen, PhD in molecular biology and a member of Professor Ulf Landegrens team at the Department of Immunology, Genomics and Pathology at Uppsala University.
