Software engineering is an increasingly important area in the automotive industry. Volvo Cars is bringing more of the software development in-house to better handle continuous integration and the complex interactions between different functions. Connectivity is an enabler for most vehicle functions, including diagnostics and data collection, but also introduces privacy and cybersecurity risks that needs to be managed through innovative and robust designs.
In the Vehicle Data & Diagnostics department within the unit Connected Experience, we
put high quality vehicle data at the fingertips of engineers and enable uptime through diagnostics. We are growing and we are therefore now looking for curious, creative people who want to change the world through innovative thinking – specifically a passionate Product Owner.
We develop and operate a toolset to request, receive, persist, store & make available data from our vehicle fleet with the aim of becoming increasingly more data driven.
We develop on-board and/or off-board functionality to facilitate: Fault tracing, Predictive Maintenance/Fleet Learning, Data measurement & collection, Function usage.
What you’ll do
Own, build, prioritize, decide, and refine the roadmap and product backlog.
Create & maintain the short and long-term vision together with the business flow of the product.
Work with Product Managers to define and maintain the ART roadmaps.
Validate backlog items and making sure they meet the acceptance criteria, definition of done (DoD), and has the appropriate tests.
Continuously develop own skills and help the team and other Product Owners to develop theirs.
You’ll contribute to agile ways of working, through technical leadership and close collaboration with team managers, scrum masters, other teams and leaders. You are a person that have adopted a lean agile mind-set, applied a servant leadership, have good communication skills, and collaborate well.
The team’s tasks will span all the way from contributing to research projects, concept studies to rolling out large-scale and high-quality products. You will work with teams across the company, across the globe, across many functions, such as product management and business development, and with external companies as well as academia.
You and your skills
We are looking for an experienced data and/or diagnostic product owner, who have previously worked in software or engineering teams. You have experience in people management, cross-functional collaboration, large-scale system design, as well as a strong sense of business. You probably have a degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong people management, collaboration and communication skills are essential when working in a diverse and international setting. It is also important that you are continuously developing your own skills and guide and coach your teams to continuously develop theirs.
You have a solid background within the diagnostic area. This includes experience from:
- working with major stakeholders for diagnostics solutions (e.g., manufacturing and aftersales)
- translating the needs from stakeholders to diagnostic strategies and requirements
- working with standards within automotive (ISO, SAE, AUTOSAR etc)
- supporting designing teams and suppliers regarding diagnostic implementation
- co-operation with other areas (such as software download or cybersecurity) regarding diagnostic services and data
A hands-on experience working with aftermarket tools, fault tracing procedures and processes is a major plus.
