About us
The department Electrical Infrastructure offers the possibility to work with electrical distribution system (EDS), electrical system design, and electrical attribute areas, for all vehicle lines within Volvo Cars. One of the attribute areas is ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC). An attribute relates to different levels of design, e.g. complete vehicle, customer function, system, and module. It describes the expectations of performance of our products. There are four EMC teams within Electrical Infrastructure, EMC Shared service, EMC releases, EMC testing and EMC components. These teams are working with requirements, hardware reviews, reviewing and supporting the preparation of test plans and performing vehicle legal testing and other related tasks. There is also another team supporting in EMC and that is the simulation team who handle mechanical, electrical and EMC simulations. Mechanical and electromagnetic compatibility simulations are used both during virtual design and verification, as well as digital tool design/development and digital method development.
We are now recruiting a Product Owner for the area of ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) to be a part of a team with highly skilled Product Owners and System Architects/engineers.
What you’ll do
You will manage and prioritize a backlog where several different development teams will pull tickets/jobs from the backlog to execute. You will have the final say in the assessment of the attribute area EMC for each new vehicle. Your goal is to minimize non-value-added work, and you are responsible for the quality of the deliveries from the teams. The team manager and the scrum master of the development teams together with you will form a trio to lead the teams operationally. You will also be a member of the extended Product Management team led by our Product Managers in the ART/department.
The main tasks are:
Technically Responsible for Volvo Cars EMC and for the deliveries of four teams situated in Sweden. Close collaboration with the EMC Engineers in our China office. Owns, builds, prioritize, decide, and refine the tasks in the Teams Backlog. Protects the long-term technical integrity of the Attribute EMC including owning the EMC Roadmap. Ensures Product (EMC) fulfilment of legal requirements (automotive specific) and certification activities for EMC. Responsible for ensuring yearly COP (Conformity of Production) is conducted. Collaborate with System and Solution Architects to assist with decision making and sequencing of the key technological infrastructure. Contributes to the Program Increment (PI) system demo for program stakeholders to ensure that it will show the most critical aspects of the solution to the stakeholder
You and your skills
We are looking for candidates with strong product focus, strong analytical skills and possess ability to handle risk management. You should have a strong degree of business acumen in combination with the technical understanding of the Electrical Infrastructure areas. You have a university degree in electric engineering and/or applied physics. Your English is fluent (written and spoken).
You possess proven leadership skills and ability to track, solve and/or escalate impediments. You are used to handle and contribute to a changing organization. You are also used to work independently and expected to take the initiative when needed, and always work with a holistic approach.
You have a solid understanding of product development within automotive business and the ability to balance decisions based on feasibility and performance throughout the entire business process. This includes to plan and lead the verification within mechanical and electromagnetic environment. You can set a vision and a roadmap for the product area EMC and protect the long-term technical integrity of the features/components as well as defining future strategies and have an interest of keeping yourself updated in the tech area EMC.
To be successful in this role you need to be open-minded towards new tools, solutions, and maybe most important, other team members. A large part of the work is bringing different technologies and people together into a coherent solution that is well-aligned and highly effective. You are a curious, positive, and a true people-person. We believe that you have a strong drive to engage and support teams and people. Your communication skills are excellent, and you value collaboration and the balancing of different stakeholders. You contribute to the already existing prestige less and friendly culture within the group.
Meritorious
Long experience within electrical and electronic development. Leadership experiences working in large-scale companies. Experience related to the automotive industry and working from an international environment.
