Product Portfolio Manager

Sandvik Coromant produces and delivers tools and tooling systems for the metal cutting industry.With employees continuously searching for improvements and by strategic investments in research and development we have become the market leader within our industry.Opportunity Management at Sandvik Coromant is responsible for, among other things, identifying new business opportunities.The Opportunity Management department is a part of Product Management and functions as a competence centre for market analysis on new segments and product portfolio analysis.Its reports and skills sets are used within the organization for a variety of tactical and strategic purposes.We are now looking for a Product Portfolio Manager to join our operations in Sandviken.Key performance areas As Product Portfolio Manager you will support Product Management in product screening and selection activities.You will develop suitable valuation models (e.g., NPVs, IRRs, risk, strategic fit) for individual product development opportunities.You will work closely with various functional groups including Business Development, R&D, Product Management and the portfolio team, in order to develop and validate assumptions that drive the valuation models.You are expected to develop tools/methods, conduct training and be a natural spokesperson for the Product Portfolio Management process.Additional responsibilities include: - Assisting Product Managers with analytical insights, in order for them to focus on long-term strategic development - Conducting ad hoc analysis of individual product opportunities and the overall global generic portfolio - Preparing reports and compile information for product and portfolio reviews with executive management - Maintaining key product-level information and assumptions in a database of product opportunities - Conducting analysis of the overall generic portfolio to support prioritization of opportunities and long-term planning of the generic pipeline - Continuously developing the process with key stakeholders and ensuring it stays up-to-date with the latest world-class standards Your profile You have education in engineering/business administration with knowledge of statistics, as well as economics.Basic technical knowledge and experience of advanced data analysis in Excel or similar tools are advantageous. You have experience from similar product portfolio work at a global firm, and are able to approach the job holistically, looking at the business not only in detail but in its entirety.This will naturally involve good analytical skills as well as the ability to encourage others through strong communication skills.The position involves a number of international contacts and requires fluent spoken and written English.We expect candidates to be self-motivated and committed to developing this function.
