Product Specialist for Oil and Gas

Product area Tube, within the business area Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT), is specialized in seamless tubes and pipes and associated parts. SMT's new strategy has a strong focus on utilizing our unique competence within materials technology to grow within the energy segment. In accordance with the SMT strategic direction, Business Unit Oil & Gas, within PA Tube, is now looking for a technical Product Specialist for Downhole Products, to be located in Sandviken.

Key performance areas
You will work in the product management group for downhole products (OCTG). The main challenges for the team are to develop our product portfolio in line with the expansion plans for the segment and the market requirements for new product qualifications. The primary tasks of the Product Specialist are contacts with our alliance partner for OCTG, Tenaris, supporting them with offers by providing technical support in regards to products and product application, and keeping up-to-date with the projects in the market. You will also work together with the GPM (Global Product Manager) to understand the needs of the market in terms of product (types and quality); now and for the future.

Other responsibilities include:
- Technical marketing of our product portfolio
- Being the product management representative in Research and Development projects
- Customer and product qualification projects
- Pre-production meetings and R&D discussions
- Exhibitions
- Training of Sales Unit personnel
- Technical discussions with Tenaris and end-users

This role involves approximately 6-8 weeks traveling per year.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with highly developed technical and product application knowledge, ideally with a Master's in Engineering or Metallurgy, and five years' relevant experience. Good knowledge of English, both written and verbal is a requirement, as are good Excel and basic IT skills.

As a person you have a genuine interest in customer satisfaction, and the ability to challenge the organization and improve the way of working. You work pro-actively in identifying development opportunities and show enthusiasm and curiosity for different cultures. You have excellent communication skills, are detail-oriented, used to working internationally, and have advanced networking skills. To be a good fit in this role you also need the ability to perform under pressure, work towards deadlines, and be proactive in approach.
