Northvolt has an exciting job offer for Production Engineers to join our stellar team in Skellefteå.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
As Production Engineer you are responsible for being the expert in their area of responsibility and best placed to give immediate support to Operations departments to ensure Upstream production continually meets specification whilst adhering to the production plan. Ensure that deviations from standard production running are investigated fully and rectified swiftly, through aligned collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
As Production Engineer you are also responsible for the coordination and driving of improvement activities for Production as they are identified.
Key responsibilites include (but are not limited to)
Ensure that the safety of yourself, your work and of others is the primary objective in your daily activities.
Develop a sound understanding of the plant’s automation, interlocks, digitalisation, equipment & process technology.
Engage closely with the operation teams to deliver production and quality objectives as the situation requires – with a hands-on approach as well as by effective process analysis.
Develop and implement Operational Excellence post start-up.
Play the role of Project Manager in the absorption of future Technology into Upstream as they are developed through our R&D organisation.
Support continuous evaluation of process hazards and drive the implementations of process safety recommendations.
Lead the yearly CAPEX planning activity along with the Operations & Maintenance teams.
Track OEE, minimize downtime, continuously evaluate, and take action to address identified issues.
Support annual production planning and budgeting based on business strategy and process capability.
Develop and train resources, internal to the department and external, as and when needed.
Initiate and drive problem solving by utilising modern problem-solving tools and techniques.
Understand and reduce process variation through SPC analysis.
Support in the development and modification of FMEAs and Control Plans



Qualifications/education/experience
Be educated in the field of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
At least 3 years hands on field experience of working in chemical plants; preferably in the solid and slurry handling, metal separation or processing industries. CAM experience is advantageous to have, but not essential.
Typical range of yearly experience is from 3 to 15.

Specific skills (e.g., specific programmes, languages, certifications etc.)
Excellent English written and oral skills
Proficient in Microsoft packages
Strong skills as communicator, both internally to Northolt, as well as externally to suppliers
Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines
Proficient at running DCS programmes
