PROFESSOR IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING

EISLAB (Embedded Internet System LAB), a division of the department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, invites applications for a chaired professor in Computer Engineering.

Research in Computer Engineering, with focus on embedded architectures and real time considerations, finds its place in the middle of the spectrum from sensor physics to computer communication and security.At the center of attention at EISLAB is the concept of Embedded Internet Systems (EIS).This concept takes form in sensors and actuators attached to tiny Internet nodes capable to form ad-hoc communication and application networks based on the TCP/IP suite of Internet protocols.Current core research interests are hardware and software architectures along with tools for real time sensor network applications.The Timber tools here forms the basis for that work.(See http://www.csee.ltu.se/eislabfo and http://www.csee.ltu.se/timber)
Computer Engineering fills in the gap in education where Electronics and Computer Science tend to their own interest.Education in Computer Engineering should prepare students for the life following university with courses including digital hardware design, VLSI design and verification and embedded architectures.
The candidate who has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogic proficiency is eligible to be appointed as professor.The scientific and pedagogic skills are to be assessed as equally important (the Higher Education Ordinance, chapter 4,5 ).
The other grounds for assessment are: proficiency in leading and organizing research, the ability to raise funding for the activities, proficiency in co-operating with the surrounding society and in disseminating research information, administrative proficiency and other competence of importance for the duties of the post.
