The Institute of Clinical Sciences persues research and education with a particular focus on human Health. The institute includes 15 departments at 3 sections representing different clinical disciplines. Thanks to a successful partnership with the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we have developed research projects, networks and centres to the benefit for research and health care. We have created an internationally recognised Institute thanks to our engaged researchers, teachers, more than 300 doctoral student and undergraduate students. We are responsible for undergraduate training of medical students (8th, 9th and 11th semester), education program of hospital physicists semester 5-10 as well as specialised supplementary training in different disciplines that are recognised globally.

The research at the Institute of Clinical Sciences in the area perinatal medicine and reproductive medicine is strong. There is a common research focus at the newly formed Centre of Perinatal Medicine & Health on inflammation both in clinical and experimental research related to brain injury (Neonatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Inst of Neuroscience and Physiology), mechanisms of preterm delivery, preeclampsia (Obstetrics and Gynecology) and rejection mechanisms after uterine transplantation (Gynecology and Obstetrics).
Job assignments
Persue inflammation-related research applied within obstetrics and gynecology or pediatrics, particularly neonatology. The work includes supervision of doctoral and postdoctoral fellows in clinical and experimental studies, research methodology, collaboration with other research groups and application for external funding. The post includes teaching of students and course leader tasks (in Swedish and English) at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. The position includes supervision of students as well as planning, execution and evaluation of educational activities. Furthermore, the professorship will also be involved in administration within the Centre of Perinatal Medicine & Health.

Equal priority will be given scientific and educational skills.
Creative research contributions in inflammation-related research applied within obstetrics and gynecology or neonatology are of particular importance. Scientific quality, originality as well as leadership and supervisory abilites in research are of particular significance. Ability to collaborate with other research groups and attract external funding in national and international competition are important qualifications. We will give priority to a researcher with well developed skills in molecular and cellular methodology including analyses of cell populations and mediators of the immune system as well as ability to supervise in the use of animal experimental models. It is of special importance to be able to share the methodological and scientific knowledge with colleagues in other research groups within and outside the Centre of Perinatal Medicine and Health.
Educational skills are important and include experience of supervision as well as planning, execution and evaluation of teaching activites for students attending various undergraduate programs. Persons who do not have Swedish as their native language will be offered to attend courses in Swedish during 2 years starting from the first day of employment in accordance with the language policy at the University of Gothenburg.
Administrative skills will also be given some priority. It is a merit if the applicant has basic training in medicine and is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology or pediatrics.
Employment
The employment is a full time (100%) permanent post and is located at The Institute of Clinical Sciences.
First day of employment is by agreement.
