Professor of Service Research with a focus on passenger transport Background The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group (SAMOT) is a VINN Excellence centre at Karlstad University in the public transport field, founded in collaboration with VINNOVA, The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems.Research is carried out in cooperation with companies and organisations in the public transport sector. The total investment for research in the period 2006-2016 is 200 million SEK (approx.20 million EUR).SAMOT's goal is to contribute to long-term, sustainable public transport by supporting its development towards service renewal and customer-oriented systems. This is done by establishing an arena for research and innovation where researchers from different disciplines cooperate with enterprises and organisations on research, development and demonstration projects.SAMOT conducts research in three thematic areas: perception of public transport, public transport's customer offering, and the regulation and institutional frameworks of public transport. The research is informed by social and behavioural science theories and their application in service research.SAMOT research was developed at the Center of Service Research (CTF), established in 1986 and a pioneer in terms of multidisciplinary service research.CTF provides SAMOT with a conceptually solid basis for further developing service-oriented public transport research. The CTF association means that SAMOT researchers are expected to contribute actively to the general academic discussion in service research field.Duties We are recruiting a professor to the service and market oriented transport research group who is willing to accept the challenge of researching public transport in a way that combines practical relevance and academic worldclass expertise. The duties of the post as professor include research, teaching, supervision, research leadership, responsibility for SAMOT's future development, and collegial participation in research leadership and administration.SAMOT and CTF researchers have varied disciplinary backgrounds. The successful candidate's research is expected to enrich and complement existing expertise in the SAMOT group. For more information, visit us at www.kau.se/samot
