The Department of Biology and Environmental Science is part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The research activities within this multidisciplinary department include the areas of aquatic ecology, cell and organism biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science and environmental engineering as well as zoonotic ecology. The Department of Biology and Environmental Science seeks a temporary project assistant to join the Marine Phytoplankton Ecology and Applications group to perform such duties as, but not limited to: scientific outreach in the field of aquatic ecology and environmental science, maritime science and sustainability. The position includes the coordination of the research group’s activities linked to global and societal challenges, and internationalization. The position includes organization of scientific outreach events, resource to international research projects and advanced courses.
Qualification requirements
Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in Sciences. The applicant should have experience in the following specific and practical techniques: fluent writing and speaking skills in English and Swedish, experience of multimedia techniques along with the ability to manage a wide range of projects in marine and environmental sciences. Strong organizational skills are required. Experience of administrative work within Higher education is desirable.
Other assessment grounds
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in coordinating workshops and conferences, academic course administration, writing popular science articles in English and Swedish.
Chinese language skills are a plus. Important personal qualities are to be creative, good at problem-solving, a team-worker, independent, resilient, and structured.
Terms of employment
The position is temporary (parental substitute). From December 2016 to December 2017.
It is a part time employment, 80 % of full time.
