Scania is right now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to become the leader within sustainable transport solutions.
Scania Purchasing has a global responsibility for purchasing products and services for all of Scania's units, and to some extent also for other brands within the Traton Group. This position belongs to Powertrain Purchasing, where we focus on parts for engines, gearboxes and axles. We are currently in a phase of many exiting product development projects, also within the field of electrification.
To our group for forged parts we are now looking for a buyer, to support our sourcing managers with prototypes and sourcing cases. In this role you will get a good introduction to purchasing, which will prepare you for a continued career within Scania Purchasing.
Your tasks
You will be responsible for securing prototype material for our development projects which includes;
- Sending out requests for quotations and negotiations with suppliers, to secure best cost and project budget for prototypes.
- Secure delivery in time, according to project deadlines and test plans, including following up delivery schedule from suppliers, handle and prevent late deliveries.
- Secure right quality of ordered prototypes, and together with R&D handle and prevent quality deviations.
- Administrative tasks, such as order placements and invoice management.
Another important part of the assignment is also to support our sourcing managers in our sourcing process for serial material. This works includes;
- Prepare and send out requests for quotations, and secure suppliers quotes according to the deadline, as well as compile and analyse received quotes.
- Collect and compile input from all concerned cross-functions before nomination decision.
As a buyer you will have many contact points, both within purchasing but also towards other internal functions such as R&D and production, as well towards our external suppliers.
Your profile
We are looking for you with a bachelor or master's degree within business economics, engineering or similar. You have a strong technical and commercial interest, with a result and goal oriented mind. To be successful in the role you are able to take own initiative and have the ability to run several parallel assignments in a structured way. You feel responsibility for your deliveries and deliver on time to the right quality.
As the position also involves several interfaces both internally and externally, you like to collaborate and you are confident when it comes to expressing clear requirements towards others. You work in a proactive way to be able to offer the best possible support to your purchasing colleagues and Scania as a whole. As a person, you are positive and contribute to good team spirit in the groups you work in, even though the pace of work is sometimes high.
As the role involves a large international network and some travel, an advanced level in written and spoken English is mandatory, and good knowledge in Swedish is an advantage.
