Role Overview

The Project Certification Manager reports to the Head of Airworthiness & Certification and has broad responsibility for the definition, management and execution of the certification programme on behalf of the Head of Airworthiness in line with EASA Regulation IR 21.A.329(a). You will lead a small team of certification managers interfacing with the engineering department certification specialists as well as other company functions such as Manufacturing, Operations, Flight Test and Supply Chain Management.

You will be responsible for providing broad technical technical leadership of the certification programme in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and the various specialists. As a team leader, you will also assist with organizing and hiring the certification team.

You will also represent the Head of Airworthiness at program/technical reviews as well as customer/supplier meetings and airworthiness/certification meetings with the authorities, ensuring the certification programme follows the regulatory requirements and our design handbook. You will also ensure schedule adherence of the certification programme and play an active part in design reviews to meet certification, cost, and schedule goals.

Qualifications & Experience

- Graduate degree in aerospace, aeronautical similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years engineering and certification (combined) experience in an aerospace OEM company environment or for an aerospace regulatory authority.
- Experience with aircraft development programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25)
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Direct experience with certification programme planning & execution (i.e. setting & negotiating certification basis, developing & executing certification programme, working with regulatory authority/authorities to obtain type certification).
- Working knowledge of systems & safety engineering principles for safety critical systems (SAE ARP 4754/4761)
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.
- Passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission.

The ideal candidate would have

- Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment,
- A strong compliance and integration mindset,
- Proficiency coordinating activities of engineers/certification managers internally,
- Representing the company externally with the regulatory authority/authorities,
- Experience in helping coordinate partner/supplier company support to negotiations with the regulatory authority/authorities (where necessary).
