The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) is an independent, international research institute founded in 1989. Its mission is to support decision-making and induce change towards sustainable development around the world by providing integrative knowledge that bridges science and policy in the field of environment and development. In January 2013, SEI was ranked number six out of the world's top environment think tanks in the 2012 Global Go To Think Tank Report, compiled by the University of Pennsylvania's Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program.
SEI has about 180 staff members working at research centres in six countries around the world. Our centres are located in the United Kingdom (SEI-York and SEI-Oxford), the United States (SEI-USA in Boston with sub-units in Seattle and locations in California), in Estonia (SEI Tallinn Centre), in Bangkok, Thailand (SEI's Asia Centre) and in Nairobi, Kenya (SEI's Africa Centre). SEI headquarters are located in Stockholm, Sweden, where we also have the Stockholm Centre with approximately 60 staff members.
The Stockholm Environment Institute invites applications for a position as Project Controller at SEI headquarters in Stockholm.
The Project Controller will specifically focus on leading and supporting financial objectives in all project phases from project design, applications, budgets and contract negotiations to final reports and audits. You will be part of the finance team in Stockholm which currently consists of four persons, and you will also regularly communicate with the finance nodes in the other SEI centres. An important part of the position will be to collaborate with the SEI research and project management staff within our projects.
Requirements:
- Experience of financial project management (>3 years);
- Experience of financial accounting and reporting;
- An academic degree in business, economics, accounting or the equivalent;
- Good analytical, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Fluency in written and spoken Swedish;
- Fluency in written and spoken English;
- Proficiency in MS Excel;
- Experience of financial accounting systems;
- Familiarity with internal control procedures and business workflows.
Experience of EC funding and funding through development cooperation agencies is highly relevant. Familiarity with project contract development and negotiation is an advantage.
SEI offers a highly international work environment. We will in December 2013 move to a new office location at Garnisonen (Linnégatan) in Stockholm.
