The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) is hiring a talented and experienced Project Controller.

Context 
SIPRI is an independent international institute whose core mission is to undertake research and activities on security, conflict and peace. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public. The Project Controller position
The Project Controller is part of the new Project Management unit within the Operations department. The Project Management unit is responsible for the financial management of projects in close cooperation with the researchers. The position is also designed to contribute to skills development within the Project Management unit to ensure that responsibilities can be shared when necessary. The Project Controller also has a key role to play in institutional learning and memory.

Key responsibilities of the position include leading the financial management and monitoring of on-going projects in the Project Management unit together with the other members of the team. Keeping the SIPRI Research Project Teams updated on the finance- and budget outcome and being responsible for project financial reporting to the donors and donor compliance. Managing contact and cooperation with the SIPRI auditors on required project audits.

The Project Controller´s responsibilities also involve contributing to the development and evaluation of the new Project Management unit. This requires developing and transferring relevant knowledge regarding working practices and templates within this new unit as well as with other parts of the Institute.

Requirements


• Candidates have a degree in a relevant field (such as Business Administration or Law)
• Project oriented financial systems and the associated software (preferably Maconomy)
• At least 3 - 5 years of working experience within the fields of project management and controlling
• Fluency in oral and written English is required; knowledge of Swedish is desirable

Contract period
This is a permanent position, with a 6-month probationary period. The post is full-time and requires that the candidate is a resident in Sweden when employment starts. The salary package will be negotiated individually. Starting as soon as possible.
