The Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) is a Stockholm-based independent, non-profit, research and policy institute, dedicated to expanding the understanding of international affairs, particularly the interrelationship between conflict, security and development. The Institute’s primary areas of geographic focus are Asia and Europe’s neighborhood. ISDP has two constituent parts: The Silk Road Studies Program and the Asia Program.
ISDP is looking for a full-time Project Coordinator to work with the Stockholm Korea Center at its main office. The position is project based and entails working with both conventional security, but especially development and non-traditional security focused projects and initiatives (e.g. gender, climate change and human security issues).
Responsibilities:
Organizing ISDP Korea Center events and dialogues
Project monitoring, evaluation, and fundraising assistance
Liaising and coordinating closely with the Head of Center and other staff
Assisting with the management of the Visiting Fellows program
Additional responsibilities:
Conducting research on the Korean Peninsula and the Northeast Asian region
Writing research papers, analysis, reports, and memos
Contributing to the strategic vision of the Center’s activities
Qualifications:
Degree in International Relations, Asia studies, Peace and Conflict studies, or related field with a focus on gender and peacebuilding issues
Strong and demonstrated research abilities
Strong proficiency in Swedish (native-level preferable) and English; Korean desirable but not essential
Exemplary writing and editing skills
Profile:
Knowledge of Korea and Northeast Asia as well as development and non-conventional security areas (e.g. gender, climate change and human security issues)
Excellent coordination and communication skills
Strong cross-cultural and interpersonal skills in conflict-sensitive settings
Good team-player but also adept at working independently
Contract period:
The contract period will initially last 6 months with a good chance of extension
