Project Engineer

Job description In summary the role holder will coordinate the engineering technical project work across the engineering functions for his/her systems. The key responsibilities include encompass coordination of the overall engineering project work across all engineering functions & ensure efficient interface and consistency with other systems; ensure alignment of the technical developments with the product strategy; member of the project team(s), to deliver the project commitments, in terms of cost, quality & timings; complies to the project management processes; lead the technical discussions with the internal & external customers; understand & deploy the customer technical requirements; identify & help solve the technical roadblocks of the project; identify technical opportunities & implement where agreed; ensure technical compliance to the contract (with customer & suppliers); follow up on technical changes & related changes on the contract terms; manage planning & budget objectives; ensure that the necessary technical reporting is issued; apply the standardization recommendations where appropriate and ensure that the technical documentation is delivered in due time. Further responsibilities of the role holder include ensuring that all technical requirements and demands by the customer/contract are covered by the defined Engineering-Scope, i.e.to develop the engineering-related part of the WBS; generate the engineering input to the DPS in cooperation with engineering functional managers (resource providers); ensuring that the product development is in line with the agreed product strategy; ensuring that all tasks of the defined Engineering-Scope are clearly addressed to a responsible Engineering department, to coordinate the execution of engineering activities, control against DPS, budget and project requirements. Qualifications It is highly likely that the successful candidate will hold an Engineering degree or equivalent coupled with a minimum 5 years experience on complex systems (trains, aeronautics, ships.); the ability to demonstrate an analytical mind & capacity to take the broader view is essential. Excellent English language skills are welcome and German would be helpful.
