In Appliances category we are 28 co-workers sitting in 5 different locations (Älmhult, Milano, Philadelphia, Shenzhen & Tokyo). We love to purchase high quality appliances products that are affordable, sustainable and can reach more of the many people. We believe in working together and have a positive and action-oriented attitude!
We are now looking for a Project Leader to the Appliances category for location Älmhult, Sweden. We offer a stimulating role where you will work on a global arena leading the innovation, co-creation and development with appliances suppliers towards our goal 2030 that Ikea will only use recycled or renewable materials into our products.
Job Description
In your assignment you work on a global arena with all our suppliers to first set-up roadmap towards 2030 target, then innovate, identify and deploy solutions to meet our targets when it comes to material.
As a Project Leader you will:
Identify and deploy sustainable and affordable technical solution for PVC free cables, plugs, hoses for appliances
Identify and deploy sustainable solutions for EPS free packaging for appliances
Identify and deploy technical solutions for more energy efficient appliances
Identify and deploy recycled ABS using electronic waste
Secure full Material and Substances Declaration from supplier base
Secure responsible sourcing and traceability of critical raw materials as 3TG, Cobalt and others

The position will require travelling.
Qualifications
To be successful, you need to have long experience (+10 years) within Quality/Engineering/Sustainability within appliances manufacturing. You also have a university degree in engineering. You also need to have experience as a Project leader and Manager with direct people responsibility (+5 years).
As a person, you are very self-going, taking big drive and own initiatives while at the same time, you are a team player, able to co-create and innovate with suppliers and explore new ideas and then turn them into long term sustainable solutions.
We also believe that you:
Are aware of economics and finance – you understand a company financials like cash-flow, P&L, income statement etc., and have ability to work with cost breakdown, the price is alpha and omega for us.
Have passion for business and the end-goal, both will come in handy when negotiating with suppliers, you are a strict but fair, solution-oriented person.
Know how to use the art of dealing with people, empathy, and good communication skills, in coordinating teams and in dealing with suppliers and many other stakeholders in the IKEA supply chain.
Have very good knowledge in English (both oral and written).
Preferably, you also have experience with innovation / deployment.
