Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.To be a global champion, Scania and the Traton group must have a presence in one of the world’s biggest commercial vehicle markets: China.
Scania has decided to establish a third industrial hub in China with the capacity to produce some 50 000 vehicles per year. Alongside building a new factory and an expansion of the sales network we will also establish a local R&D organization in China. Our mission in R&D Industrial Operations Asia is to develop trucks especially adapted for the Chinese market, the biggest commercial vehicle market in the world.
The work will be carried out by a dedicated organisation – which will develop and manage the products over time. The organisation will consist of colleagues from all brands within the TRATON Group together with many new colleagues from China. We are building the organisation simultaneously as we develop the product
In order to succeed in a new market, Scania needs to focus on speed, flexibility, and flow. To manage that we work in an agile setup. The journey has started and we need a software project leader to secure that the project and build up in China goes as smoothly as possible. – it’s moving fast and it’s a fun way of working, are you coming along for the ride?
Your work assignments
As a software project leader you will be responsible for securing a reliable software solutions for testing needs as well as production needs. While assuring the integration of different software development streams, you are always keeping in mind our customer requirements. This includes creating and defining (test) release plans in close communication with Scania as well as ensuring the execution and progress of the plan.
As we are in the early stages of the project, you will be leading our software teams in proactively implementing quality practices as well as tools. You will be working closely together with our software developers in the China project as well as you will be in charge of managing risks, obstacles, and dependencies faced by the teams. We also see you representing the China software development in discussions with Scania Europe.
Your profile
You are comfortable working in an organisation under build-up, where not everything is in place, you like to take initiative and you are able to fast and efficiently solve problems and deliver results.
As a person, you are engaged, solution-oriented, and like high pace. You have courage, take great responsibility and have a good ability to develop and maintain a wide network of contacts at all levels.
You have a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree such as a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or business management or the equivalent knowledge acquired some other way. Work experience from software development and managing projects is considered a strong merit.
You need to be fluent in English, written and spoken.

Work location
Work will be done from Södertälje and flexible work location may be applied to reflect competencies needed and deliveries in the project. Later options will be discussed to be on shorter or longer assignments in our new R&D office in China, based on interest and business needs.
