Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT) is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a world-leading manufacturer of high-value-added products in advanced stainless steels and special alloys for the most demanding industries, many within the energy sector. Sandvik’s Stainless Service business is a new organization that is part SMT’s growth initiative, working with technical and production-related services and special added operations. The delivery team for technical services utilizes Sandvik’s material know-how as its core. Projects are run in close cooperation with our customers in areas such as failure analysis, corrosion assessment, fatigue testing and welding expertise. We are now looking for a self-motivated and social Project Manager for Engineering Solutions to join us in Sandviken, and we offer you great possibilities to work with a large scope of projects and interact with customers globally.

Job Summary
As Project Manager, you are the customer interface, with primary responsibility for the commercial success of our projects. You lead high performance teams focusing on the values of customer satisfaction, confidentiality, safety and quality. A core part of the job is engaging the right people at the right time for effective project delivery, including third party sub-contractors. Other important tasks are project planning to ensure correct report cost estimates; cost and schedule controls; and taking part in the selling and offering processes for new projects. You must also actively engage in the development of new service offers and the department’s continuous improvement processes. Additional responsibilities include:

- Compiling customer needs into quotations for new projects
- Establishing the project scope and developing execution plans in conjunction with the project team
- Cost estimation, budgeting and cost tracking through project closeout
- Schedule development, tracking and management
- Demanding results from project members that meet or exceed financial expectations of projects
- Maintaining strict compliance with the quality processes and procedures, as well as with EHS regulations
- Leading and co-authoring technical reports and final reports
- Implementing continuous improvement processes and lessons learned with the project team and contractors
- Providing technical expertise to clients during face-to-face meetings

This position may involve some international travel.

We are looking for someone with a Masters in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or another relevant field. You have at least five years’ experience from the steel industry and/or material testing. Thorough knowledge of the engineering industry is required, as is at least three years’ of documented project management or another management position. As we operate in a global setting, you have great communication skills in English, both in speaking and writing.
