Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Do you want to be part of a dedicated team that run military business project? Are you stimulated by running projects close to the end customer and co-located with cross-functional colleagues? Then this assignment is for you!
The projects are initiated by Sales and Marketing based on specific customer inquiries and then run in a scalable process. Each project manager usually runs a number of cross-functional projects in parallel, where the lead time can vary from 1 up to 5+ years depending on size and complexity.
Defense Project Management (RSOD) leads product development projects that jointly create a modular truck platform that is primarily requested by defense customers.
In parallel, RSOD also runs business projects for e.g. Dutch, Danish and Finnish Armed Forces.
For this specific project management task is it beneficially to have:
• Practical experience by actively been working in all phases of a military development process.
• More than 5 years of experience working with project management in large companies similar to Scania
• More than 5 years of experience as a project manager of defense projects
The group has a composition of individuals where different genders, ages, backgrounds and experiences contribute to a positive group dynamic.
Your work assignments
In the role of project manager, you lead a team with the task of meeting customers' specific wishes for tailored trucks at the right performance, cost and lead time. Our customers are often authorities that are used to procuring and demanding results according to signed contracts and processes / standards, especially regarding quality and schedule. As a project manager, you play a very important role in purposefully driving the projects forward.
Important success factors are that you master the ability to create a good team through self-confidence and genuine leadership qualities. See the whole picture, understand the underlying details, be able to motivate and communicate the way forward both internally and with customers and subcontractors. As the projects involve a lot of staff and cross-functional responsibilities, not least technically, the ability to integrate and problem-solving attitude is a prerequisite.
It is also important to clearly describe, document and communicate the project's goals. Continuous improvement work is a natural part of our business, and with a proactive approach, you and your project team identify risks early and acting on them.
Your profile
You like to act in a changing environment where Scania's end customer is in focus. In a natural way, you engage your surroundings. You have a positive, clear and engaging leadership that guides project members towards set goals and deliveries. Furthermore, you are a prestige less team player with a solution focus, flexibility and structure. You has the ability to see and describe the major contexts, but also be able to identify and act on important details. You like to challenge, participate in and develop existing working methods and processes.
Qualifying if you have good knowledge of how process development takes place within large companies like Scania and also have a great knowledge and understanding of how military development processes work. You are accustomed to managing and conducting complex defense projects against a strong military procurement organization.
