Project Manager / It Functional Manager for Mainframe

Within our Production IT department, we’re proud to support the business with solutions to become more digitally advanced, and we constantly strive towards ensuring value throughout the entire production chain. In line with this, we’re now looking for an experienced project manager to work towards our Enterprise Business Platform (EBP) Seamless Program and also to lead our Mainframe team.


Two missions – a varied role
In this role, you have two main responsibilities. The first, and major part of your role is working as a Project Manager towards our EBP Seamless Program – an large and exciting initiative to phase out old IT systems used in production and merge or replace them with new modern technology suitable for a market leader manufacturer like Sandvik Coromant. You drive activities and guide our daily work as you manage the interactions between the Mainframe platform and SOPIC (which both are internal IT production systems that eventually needs to be replaced). You’re also the link towards the larger EBP Seamless Program, where you ensure excellent collaborations and provide what’s needed to move the program forward, such as high-level planning and coordination.


The other part of your role is to manage and develop the Mainframe team. It’s an easy-going and highly driven team where you have a mainly administrative role, but you naturally make sure to support your team members and create the right conditions for them to deliver successful results.


As the team is a global group – located in Sandviken (Sweden), the UK and India among others - the location for this job is flexible between any of our Sandvik Coromant sites.


Your experience and personality make the difference
You need to have a strong background and a proven track record in project management - which helps you to plan, coordinate and solve problems with a steady hand. You like to work within clear boundaries, take independent decisions and doing what’s best for the project and the team. As you work with experts in their own respective fields, you don’t need to know everything about our internal IT production systems, but you have previous experience of working with similar solutions. What’s important is that you understand processes, connections and what’s needed to solve any problems that might occur.


To achieve good team results, you take advantage of your solid collaboration and communication skills along with a humble and unpretentious personality. You’re also flexible and open minded – and as you’re a part of a big project where settings may change over time, you have an ability to adapt and grow with your environment. Since you work in a global team, good communication skills in English is mandatory, while Swedish is beneficial.
