About the role
In this interesting and challenging Project Manager position you will have the focus on technology platforms and infrastructure projects. The subject matter area for the most common projects will be in the area of for example, networks, hybrid platforms (public cloud and on-prem), workstations and other IT infrastructure. We are on a cloud transformation and platform modernization journey.
This position requires a project manager with the capability to understand technologies needed for various IT and platform related projects. Communication skills and mastering the ability to explain technical IT topics in an understandable way, to different kind of audiences is also needed in this role.
As a Project Manager in the Program and Change Management team, you will independently lead and run projects with the project owners, project stakeholders, and project team. The teams are typically cross-functional and geographically distributed.
As the Project Manager for a typical project in Fortum, you act as the operative leader, leading and overseeing the project’s day-to-day activities. You are also responsible for ensuring that the project scope is delivered on time, budget and quality and ensure that the Value creation promised is delivered.
Some of your key tasks are:
• Creating Project Plan in cooperation with relevant persons
• Ensuring that Project deliverables are achieved
• Aligning with business case and tracking value creation and KPI’s
• Ensuring Fortum project model requirements are met and using all tools and processes that are required
• Project financial planning, follow up and reporting
• Evaluating project risks and dependencies
• Information sharing and active communication
• Resolving issues and remove roadblocks
In addition to running your own projects, we expect you to be ready to contribute also to the overall team development as well as supporting our network of Project Managers, both internal and external.

The Program and Change Management team in BT consists of 18 people, most of which are project managers. We take the Project Manager role in IT related projects within the whole Fortum group. We have a vast range of competences, skills and experiences within the team for any subject matter that could be found in the Fortum group, and we are sharing our strengths with each other, to be stronger as a group. The Team Leads in the Program and Change Management team have different personalities and complement each other. What unites us all is that we want our people to thrive, i.e., grow, develop and be successful, towards a cleaner world.
We are looking for
a person that can complement our already existing team with additional emphasis on the focus area of Technology platforms and infrastructure with
• At least 5 years of experience of running projects in this focus area and a Project Management Certification (e.g., IPMA, PMI, Prince) is mandatory.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in IT or business administration or other relevant area.
• Fluency in both verbal and written English is mandatory.
• Experience of running projects in either Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid or SaaS methodologies.
• Experience and understanding of IT infrastructure and platforms.
• Knowledge of the Energy business is preferred.
• Structured and organized way of working.
• Curious by nature, change resilient and passionate to learn.
• Focus on results and getting things done.
• Ability to naturally build networks.
• Good leadership skills and clear communication skills as well as being able to create excellent presentation material in e.g. PowerPoint.
For our projects, our main offices are Espoo, Finland and Solna, Sweden and you will work with a great diversity of nationalities and personalities among Fortum employees and consultants. According to our hybrid working policy, we expect the Project Manager to be onsite, either in Solna office or Espoo office twice a week.
