At the Department Science & Technology/The Life Science Center & Molecular Biochemistry group we are now searching for a Project Secretary.

Duties and responsibilities
The work deals with studies of fundamental and quality issues of vegetables, herbs, and fruit as a function of the growth light especially in the ultraviolet light region of the spectrum. Special emphasis is to be given to processes such as gene expression, phytochemical accumulation and development in plants.

Qualifications
We are looking for a person with at least a Bachelors degree in Horticulture, Plant Physiology, Molecular Plant Biology or Biochemistry. The applicant shall have ample experience with performing UV light treatment of greenhouse-grown vegetables and herbs and have sufficient knowledge and experience to independently design and carry out the necessary steps in qPCR gene expression studies in plants, morphological investigation of growth parameters, and analysis phytochemical accumulation, especially of flavonoids.

In addition, fluent written and spoken English is a prerequisite for the position, as well as prior experience in writing scientific papers for high quality peer-reviewed international research journals. Furthermore, a high degree of independence with regards to carrying out scientific experiments is instrumental. On a personal level, the candidate should be flexible, collaborative and capable of working independently. Close attention will be paid to your personal qualities, your ability to perform duties autonomously, your interpersonal skills and ability to cooperate, as well as your ability to relate to people in a way that inspires trust and confidence. We expect you to be flexible and open to change with the ability to assume a quality-conscious and responsible approach towards your duties.
