Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Our corporate strategy brings Sustainability to a high ambition level. With our Science Based Targets we are taking a leap in our ambitions on carbon reduction in our operations but also committing to a customer offer with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry.
Property driven product development starts and ends with our customers. This means that we have to understand the future needs of our customers and define targets for our ten product properties accordingly – for trucks, buses, power solutions and services.
Role and responsibilities
The property owner is overall and strategically responsible for driving the property work within his or her area. In the technical product planning the sustainability requirements are handled by the owner for the product property “Product Sustainability.”
The reductions of CO2 emissions from the whole product life cycle is key to make the most sustainable truck and bus in the future.
Within this work you will be responsible for the strategic roadmap for your property and secure that clear property targets are set in the product development flow. You will also support R&D to ensure that the property objectives reach the strategically decided level of ambition for your property for all applications over time.
You will obtain information from the market, customers and subject matter experts at Scania through benchmarking, customer clinics and suchlike. The role entitles leading and coordinating vehicle property experts at respective expert group, who possess deeper knowledge within their respective areas.
Two vehicle properties exist under the product property Product Sustainability: Life Cycle Climate Impact and Sound Emissions (external noise). Vehicle properties needs to be evaluated in all development projects by specific responsible expert groups.
Other areas within product sustainability can also be subject for target setting depending on relevance in the specific project: hazardous substances, social impact (focus supply chain), environmental impact (regional or global environmental impact beyond climate), local emissions (focus air pollutants) and circularity.
What you will do
As property owner for Product Sustainability you will:
• work in a team of committed and highly experienced property owners
• work closely together with a subject matter expert group with focus on sustainability
• build up sustainability know-how to support Scania in general and R&D in specific
• understand the needs from different stakeholders to initiate and evaluate investigations with the aim to increase the sustainability knowledge at Scania
• develop the roadmap for product sustainability that captures both the business and sustainability benefits.
• set and follow up targets in development projects to enhance a circular and sustainable business for our vehicles and services
• follow and engage in the internal and external evolvement of product sustainability
• ensure effective cross-functional development and learning between organisations within the area
• set relevant KPIs, follow-up and coach the organisation to deliver on their commitments
• develop and communicate effective guidelines for designers to enhance a circular and sustainable mindset in their daily tasks
• assist in defining effective digital solutions to enhance our customers’ sustainability ambitions
Do you fit the profile?
You have a relevant university degree at PhD or Master’s level and experience from technical design and/or technical evaluation. You are familiar with Scania´s product portfolio and you know the concepts of modularisation well.
You are structured, result oriented and have analytical skills as well as a curious mindset. It is natural for you to see things in a broad perspective as well as going into the details.
You have a broad network within R&D and preferably also at the Sales & Marketing and Purchasing organisations.
You are a good communicator with full command and high proficiency in English (in writing and speaking) and you like working with skilled and ambitious peoples in a big network at Scania as well as outside Scania.
