Arbetsbeskrivning
Are you a creative and curious person with a passion for product- and technical development where industrial 3D printing using plastics is a core ingredient? Do you like to work hands-on in a technical environment with access to digital and manual machinery to create new products? Would you consider it a great opportunity to be the creative link between ideas to practical solutions?
Let us introduce the IKEA Prototype shop. Based in Älmhult, at the very heart of IKEA, we are involved in all new product development and creation for IKEA’s global product range. You will work in a dynamic, high-tech environment, where the latest equipment such as CNC routers, 3D printers, laser-cutters and other sophisticated hardware and software are part of the toolbox for prototyping. There´s a good spirit at the Prototype shop (and this goes for the rest of IKEA as well), and you will work closely with colleagues, who like you, are specialists in prototyping new products.
What will you do?
You will create and make prototypes within 3D printing as specialist area. Your prototypes will clearly show the product design and its characteristics. You will contribute by bringing knowledge and skills regarding construction, material and production into the process. Designers and Engineers will work together with you about how to realise products and technical solutions during the development.
The key here is to bring your progressive curiosity and creativity. We are going to challenge your skills when it comes to finding the best solutions of prototypes. Working together is important for us and we think that we are strongest together.
Who are you then?
We are looking for you who have the curiosity built into your hands. You have the drive to always try and figure how things are designed, and then an urge to come up with a solution even better. You are probably a practical Technician in the beginning of your career, but you have already started to build up specialist knowledge within technology and materials.
Furthermore, you have:
Proven knowledge from using tools, machinery, and equipment,
Proven ability and experience from working with CAD (incl. reading technical drawings) and digital machinery,
Work environment as a manufacturing industry or a production setting is your home base,
You are fluent in English as IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment, with colleagues from all over the world.
You have a deep and genuine technical interest but are looking for your next step where you will make a real impact for the many people, building on your interest in business and keeping the customer in focus.
