At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy. The ES-30 is expected to enter into service in 2028.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Prototyping Engineer to join our Advanced Design and Prototyping Team. The role will be focused on Propulsion Systems (power electronics, electric motors, batteries and controls). You will be working in a small and very multidisciplinary team involved in a broad range of prototyping activities. To succeed in this role, we see that you are highly proficient with batteries and electric motors and enjoys “hands-on” work. A start-up mindset and self-motivation are very important as well. Ideally you have experience in concept design and prototyping of electric vehicles. Additionally, you enjoy taking on difficult challenges and finding innovative solutions, you readily adapt to change, and you are motivated and driven to continually learn and improve.

Your responsibilities will be to:

- Develop electric system architectures for prototypes and rigs
- Develop solutions for rapid prototyping of batteries, and electric propulsion systems components
- Prototype of electronic components
- Generate CAD designs of prototyping parts and assemblies
- Perform hands-on assemblies and installations
- Perform tests on components and systems

Qualifications & Experience:

- BSc degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2-5 years of experience with similar tasks and responsibilities
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Proficiency in computer programming
- Experience with high voltage systems
- Experience with batteries (cells, modeling, controls and simulation)
- Experience with battery management systems
- Eagerness to work with others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission

The ideal candidate would have

- Experience from participating in student competitions in related area
- Experience in the development of firmware
- Experience with thermal simulation
- Aerospace background is a bonus
