What do we do?


Electromobility is one of the main development areas within Volvo Group and was created to be at the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow. We are responsible for the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and to secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. We develop and drive the electromobility product portfolio for Trucks and Buses as well as create opportunities for all business areas within Volvo Group. The importance of electromobility is growing every day, and a key component within the electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System. At Energy Storage Systems, we are accountable for the cell and modules for our battery systems.

What will you do?


You will be part of the Energy Storage System team at Volvo Group- Electromobility - an organization dedicated to technology and empowering our employees. At Volvo Group-Electromobility, we value customer satisfaction as the ultimate performance measurement.

In this role, you will be the go-to person for all aspects of battery module prototyping. You will be responsible for production of prototype build of battery module according to design and safety specification for design evaluation and test. You will be in the Module Design team and have close collaboration with the design engineers and continuously giving feedback regarding the design and manufacturing feasibility and contributing with ideas for improvement of the design. You will drive the development of prototype workshop and continuously improvements of the workshop.

Who are you?


As an experienced professional with a deep understanding of Li-ion battery systems, you will also be responsible for abuse testing and validation plans. You will be part of a cross-functional network internally and work closely with our key suppliers. You have a good view of our competitors and future technology development in high voltage Li-ion battery design and manufacturing.


You are open, positive, and like to collaborate as well as share knowledge within your team. With us, you need to be a team player as part of a high performing team. You like to develop new ways to work.

Skills:
Have many years of hand-on experience of battery modules build and manufacture operations.
Very good knowledge in different cell welding techniques and have good understanding of high voltage Li-ion battery systems.
Able to identify and resolving technical issues.
Have a good knowledge of standards and regulations requirements for High Voltage Li-ion battery
Experience in using CAD software such as CREO, and data analysis tools such as Matlab
Comfortable and well-versed working with OEM or battery cell supplier development processes
Fluent in English - verbal and written
Meritorious if you have been involved in a full cycle battery development process from A to market



To succeed in this role, you need to be a communicative person who can easily plan, align, and focus on the most important things and highest priorities. You have a can-do attitude and like to deliver with a great outcome. You can create concepts and ideas and implement them without hesitation.

You are also:
MSc or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar or equivalent experience.
Truly engaged and committed Battery Module Prototyping Engineer. Interested to learn and expand your skills, particularly in battery technology, emerging, and diverse approaches.
