Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

The sheet metal project purchasing team is now in an exciting phase sourcing projects within both electrification and product updates. We are seeking for a new colleague to join our high preforming team and source the future together with us.

Job description

In this role, you are responsible to purchase stamped parts in metal for new projects with focus on Technology, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Sustainability. You will work cross-functionally and in close cooperation with our R&D department, other colleagues within purchasing and quality as well as our production. You will represent sheet metal purchasing from early concept development until the product is introduced in all our global production plants around the world.

You will belong to the sheet metal 3-ring which will consist of Commodity purchasing, Quality and you representing Project purchasing. Together you will set long- and short-term strategies to achieve the best result for your area of responsibility and Scania. You will e.g. together with your 3-ring develop the supplier base, have common negotiations and joined business travels.

We are a team consisting of 11 purchasers (7 nationalities), with mix of age and gender. We have our own areas of responsibilities but are always flexible to support each other when problems and deviations occurs in order to achieve the best result for the team and Scania.

As a manager for the sheet metal team, I put a lot of energy and time in having employees entering and leaving the office with a big smile and energy to cope with the challenges at both work and private. I’m that kind of manager that is more a leader than a boss, I guide, support and motivate to reach the required targets.

The complete team is located and working from the Scania Purchasing office in Södertalje. In the modern work office landscapes the team can work in different areas depending on the task, there are e.g. project areas, silent rooms and a lounge for a coffee breaks. There is also the possibility to work from home some days of the week thanks to the modern remote work systems.
 

Your profile:

You should have a strong commercial interest and able to create or see business opportunities when they are given, not afraid to challenge both internal stakeholders and suppliers for even better business.  We are seeking for someone who is strategic and dares to challenge the current way of working.

You should like to work in a fast moving environment and handle multiple things at the same time, have a positive approach on the challenges and by that also spread positive energy to the surrounding. You should be able to work both independently and within a team.

You have a university degree in Engineering or Finance and prior experience from purchasing, sales, project management or other relevant field. In addition, you are capable of expressing yourself fluently in both spoken and written English.
