With a global user base of over 380 million, Opera is an international internet company that has expanded into product areas beyond our popular browsers. Our product portfolio includes web browsers, fin-tech solutions, news aggregation services, as well as data compression and privacy software. We are investing heavily in our fin-tech offering targeting Europe with launches expected this and next year.
Opera Sweden is looking for an ambitious QA engineer with a passion for technology to join our web team in Gothenburg, Sweden. Experimenting with new technology is in our DNA and our team is constantly trying to find better ways to build quality apps. In our current project we have chosen to go with TypeScript, React.js and invested in continuous integration through Jenkins and test automation. Product quality and iteration speed are crucial to building successful products and we believe that automated testing should be a natural part of the development pipeline.
Your main focus will be:
Creating project test suite from scratch and maintaining it
Testing of the web application
Advising the development team on testability topics
Setting up the framework for tracking and prioritizing bugs
You will be working in a web team of about 10 people with an agile workflow. You will be part of design reviews, sprint planning, weekly sprints, continuous integration and delivery processes. The team is distributed over three locations but centered in Gothenburg. You will be collaborating closely with local developers; backend, product management and design in Estonia and Poland.
We expect You to have:
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
At least 2 years of recent employment in a QA role in web projects
Strong familiarity with testing of web apps on desktop and mobile
Familiarity with mainstream testing tools and frameworks for web
Currently living in Gothenburg or willing to relocate
An ideal candidate has:
Fluency in English
5+ years of related experience
Self drive to develop new skills
Familiarity with test automation tools for web apps (e.g. Selenium), and how they fit in CI / CD
Deep knowledge of the theory of software testing and verification
Familiarity with git, GitHub, TestAutomation for Jira, Zephyr, Jenkins
Experience with python, shell scripting
