The QA Manager leads our efforts in making quality games. In this role you lead a team of highly skilled QA professionals and help them develop their skills. Your main responsibility is to be a manager for a team of QA professionals. That involves coaching towards individual- and team excellence, conduct performance reviews, and helping your team with setting short- and long-term goals.
You will make sure that the QA department is organized, staffed, and led in a manner that secures success, both today and in the future. You will be part of setting the long-term vision for the department, and make sure to get people aligned on it. This includes both keeping up-to-date with game projects and their testing needs, as well as recruitment.
Key Performance Indicators
Work towards full mental and physical wellness in the team
Ensure that all QA professionals are motivated and performing to the expectations of the game teams and Studio Manager
Increase team velocity and ensure the QA team meets their mutually agreed upon release targets as set by the Producers together with the studio leadership
Relationships
The QA Manager reports to the Studio Manager - while also maintaining good communication at different levels, both inside & outside the studio, ie: Production Department, Studio Directors & Managers in the PDX Studio Group.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to).
Manage a team tasked with providing quality assurance for game projects.
Ensure that the test teams have proper schedules, priorities, and guidance to make a successful game.
Share best practices and learnings across all projects
Assisting the Studio Manager in setting QA Team vision and goals
Manage QA-related outsourcing and contractor efforts of all game projects in close collaboration with the Outsourcing Manager in the global Studio Organization. This includes planning, scheduling and signing off on vendor milestones.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate talent for QA Professionals; providing guidance for their individual professional development in order to maintain an effective team structure.
Foster a dynamic and collaborative team environment; including but not limited to coordinating educational opportunities for the team, coordinating mentorships, and team-building.
