As Manager, QHSE, you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest safety, quality, and operational standards. In this role, you will oversee QHSE systems, lead audits, manage risk assessments, and drive a safety-first culture across a diverse and dynamic fleet. You will have the opportunity to enhance existing systems while preparing for future challenges in marine operations.
YOU WILL Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS), Quality and Operational Manuals in collaboration with the Operations and Fleet Teams to instill a strong safety culture and quality consciousness.
Oversee and support a dedicated QHSE team, including QA & Safety Officers, ensuring timely and effective implementation of safety and quality initiatives.
Lead internal and external audits in line with applicable standards and procedures to verify the effective implementation of SMS and quality policies and objectives.
Lead and assist Fleet Operations Managers in marine incident investigations and risk assessments, implementing measures to prevent recurrence and mitigate risks
Ensure the systematic monitoring and recording of incidents, accidents, near misses, deviations, corrective actions, and emergency handling.
Organize emergency response training and drills with vessel operators and develop comprehensive emergency response plans to prepare for unforeseen events.
Oversee the departmental budget, monitor financial performance, and collaborate with the General Manager for approvals on larger expenses or investments.
Lead the enhancement and evolution of QHSE systems and strategies, ensuring alignment with global standards and preparing for future industry challenges
Inspire and manage a high-performing team through effective leadership, clear goal-setting, performance management, and professional development initiatives
Visit vessels, shipyards, and other operational sites regularly to ensure QHSE systems are effectively implemented and maintained. Occasional regional travel is required.
YOU ARE A Marine Engineer (or equivalent) with a Bachelor’s degree and a proven track record in QHSE roles, particularly within marine operations and shipyard activities.
Experienced with at least 10 years in QHSE aspects of marine operations, including a minimum of 5 years in managerial or leadership roles.
Certified in Safety Management (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate, MVK, or equivalent) and auditing techniques (e.g., ISM/ISO9001 Internal Auditor or equivalent). PMP certification is an advantage.Proficient in developing and managing QHSE Management Systems, Risk Assessments, and Emergency Response Plans.
Familiar with Class Society rules, statutory requirements, and best practices within the marine sector, with hands-on experience in compliance and certifications.
A strategic thinker with excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, capable of leading change and improving processes proactively.
An effective communicator in English (proficiency in Arabic is a plus), with strong interpersonal and presentation skills, able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Computer-proficient, with advanced skills in analyzing and reporting data to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.
Motivated to drive continuous improvement and foster a safety-first mindset across all operations
