Northvolt has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Quality Control Engineer to join our bold Quality Control team at Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, Sweden. You would play a key role in analysing and evaluating materials from Northvolt’s cathode active material (CAM) development and production as well as contributing to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.
About the job:
In this job you will be responsible for the coin cell testing, i.e. the production of coin cells, the cycling of them and the interpretation of the results. You will also develop the coin cell testing with long-term testing, testing at diferent temperatures and correlating the results we obtain to other materials properties that we measure for the CAM material. The actual making of coin cells are normally perofmred by our technicians, but you need to ensure that they have good procedures to follow so that we get accurate results and a safe work environment and also ensure that the apparatus used are in good working order and calibrated according to the highest standards. The role will report to the director of QC CAM.
The ideal candidate should be analytical and logical with an ability to identify opportunities and improvements to drive increased quality through data driven approaches. You should also have strong technical abilities in order to succeed in this role.
About the team:
The QC CAM team is expected to grow, and right now consists of two analytical chemists, one QC engineer, 12 QC technicians, the director of QC CAM and one manager for the technicians.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Drive the development, validation and implementation of electrochemical testing of CAM.
Engage in other types of characterisation of CAM (chemical and physical characterisation).
Maintaining instruments to a high standard.
Drive operational excellence by being a key player in day-to-day problem solving and process improvement exercises.
Understand and internalize QA/QC principles in every day functions.
Work across many parts of the organisation, collaborating with Production, R&D, Process engineering and Quality.
Training of technicians.
Work with external suppliers, institutes and academic organizations as well as customers.
