R & D Engineer in Energy System Analysis

Vattenfall is now looking for the right person to fill the position of R&D Engineer in Energy System Analysis at Vattenfall Research & Development with location Älvkarleby or Stockholm(Solna).
The energy system is facing major changes and we want to improve our understanding of the development of the energy system and what opportunities and new value chains that may arise in future. Vattenfall R&D has group wide responsibility for conducting business driven technical development that supports the company?s strategic focus areas. The unit employs approximately 125 people located in Sweden and Denmark.

We are now looking for an ambitious and creative individual in energy system analysis with passion for economics and value chains to strengthen our team working with the future energy system. Your responsibilities

Your responsibilities would include leading and participating in development projects in integrated team. You will both analyse the existing energy system and develop conceptual solutions for new business. Part of the time will be used for following trends and developments in the energy sector and neighbouring sectors to gain knowledge and insights. An important task is to package complex physical and economical information for internal use. In a creative environment, you take responsibility to catch up own and other?s ideas and develop into new business concepts, with technical and value chain analysis as key tools.

You will work closely with various R&D teams in a variety of technical disciplines, as well as other staff functions and business units.

Qualifications and Personal skills

Necessary qualifications are; experience or knowledge of energy systems and markets, economics, value chains, energy conversion technology and thermodynamics.

You hold a university degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Energy engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent with a minimum of two years relevant work experience. Experience from business development is an advantage and experience from project management or project oriented work is desirable. Fluency in English is a prerequisite, a good command of Swedish is desirable.

You are analytical, committed and self-driven with good communication and interpersonal skills. You like to work in teams and create networks. The ideal candidate is fearless, curious, open-minded, don?t panic when starting from a white paper, strategic, information driven and extraordinary in calculating. A passion for economics and value changes we believe is a necessity for this role.
