R & D manager, Chainsaws

Electrolux Outdoor Products is a world-leading producer of forestry, park and garden products as well as of certain equipment for the construction and stone industry. R&D Manager, Chainsaws

In order to further strengthen its leadership in chainsaws, Husqvarna AB is now creating the position as R&D Manager, Chainsaws. The main responsibility for this new role is to develop and implement a clear R&D strategy for the Product Group Chainsaws, aiming at even better products, shorter lead time, even better quality, and lower product cost.

The key tasks are the following
" Set clear objectives for the chainsaw R&D activities, covering products/features, components/technology, product architecture, quality, and unit cost (material and manufacturing)
" Develop a plan for how to deliver the desired results while increasing efficiency and precision. This plan should cover personnel/competencies, work methods, follow-up and decision-making, as well as organization and cooperation with third parties
" Be a leading player in the development of Husqvarna's future chainsaw range
" Lead the translation of the future chainsaw range into R&D activities
" Operatively manage the Chainsaw R&D organization and the development projects

All work is carried out in close cooperation with other teams, e.g., Component manufacturing, Assembly, Product management, Purchasing, and Marketing&Sales.

The R&D Manager, Chainsaws, will have a large budget responsibility and will be the line manager of a team of dedicated, experienced and professional engineers. He or she will report to the manager of the Product Group Chainsaws.

A successful applicant to this position will most likely already hold a leading position within R&D or adjacent areas. We are looking for candidates with documented leadership ability, very strong technology track record, and experience from R&D in manufacturing companies. In order to succeed, the new manager will have to apply a holistic approach to R&D, covering both technological and financial aspects.
