R Language Software Engineer

We are seeking an R Software Engineer for a high-profile data science project in Gothenburg.

Background

The current assignment centers on a data science project related to automated optimisation of decisions based on predictive models of consumer demand together with simulation models to allow scenario evaluations. The project has a high business impact and is in the phase of scaling up to a live roll out. In the project, you’ll be working with a cross-functional collaboration team across the company, consisting of highly experienced data scientist in different disciplines.

You will strengthen the team and further increase the velocity of the project before and during the launch. Your primary focus will be to take an active part in software development aspects of the Data Science project, for both existing and new functionality.

Key responsibilities

- Implement current and future features, in close collaboration with team members (cf. pair programming).
- Refactor and in other ways improve code structure, to enhance quality, maintainability, modularity, ease of modifications, etc.
- Performance optimisation
- Debugging and quality assurance


Essential (must have) skills, knowledge and experience

- English language proficiency
- High proficiency in R language (including experience with data.table and parallel programming
- MSc or equivalent in Software engineering (incl. experience in agile software development and producing high quality code in a team setup)


Nice to have skills, knowledge and experience

- Experience in implementing scientific simulations

Personal attributes

- Flexible and able to balance between internal and customer interests
