Are you our new Raw material Analyst/Purchaser for high-voltage batteries? One of the most important and challenging categories in the industry with a significant impact on our profitability and vision to drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system.
Raw material represents a big share of the cost of the batteries in an electrified vehicle. Many of the materials are scarce and supply will be a concern during the coming years. Therefore, we need to strengthen our understanding of the raw material market for batteries and develop strategies to secure supply and cost from sustainable sources globally. You will play a key role in the journey to achieving this.
The Purchasing team, High-Voltage propulsion components works with parts and components used in Electrified Vehicles manufactured in our global truck and bus production system. We are currently in an intensive period with a lot of new projects, the majority of them carried out together with our colleagues within the TRATON group. We are now extending the team with a new role and are therefore looking for a new committed team member excited about business and new technology within the Electrification area.
The team
The culture in the team is characterized by openness, inclusion and supportive way of working where a helping hand is always provided between team members. The team has currently 9 members with different backgrounds, nationalities, gender and experience. We are responsible for purchasing high-voltage batteries, eMachines, Power Electronics and Electric Power transmissions.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for both Raw material analysis and Purchasing within the High-voltage battery segment.
As a Raw material analyst you will be responsible for the following:
Industry expertise
• Understand the global market and supply for critical battery chemicals e.g. lithium, cobolt, nickel and graphite
• Collaborate and leverage on VW and other sources in building a knowledge base available to TRATON
• Build a network with key industry players such as refining and mining companies globally plus universities
• Feed industry knowledge to relevant stakeholders within TRATON, purchasing, management and battery development
Raw material strategy
• Develop and implement a strategy that allows TRATON to secure supply and cost from sustainable sources globally
• Ensure alignment and adherence to strategy throughout TRATON globally
• Break down strategy into actions and ensure traction
As a Purchaser you will have the following responsibility:
• optimization of technology, quality, delivery and cost of components within new projects. You take an active role in both pre-development and industrialization projects to find the best technical and commercial solution for Scania.
• You lead the discussion with suppliers all the way from concept development, via business award, start of production and further on, through the component´s entire lifecycle.
The position offers great opportunities to work with new technology and interact with cross-functional and cross-brand representatives throughout the entire Traton group.
You
• You have an Academic degree, preferably M.Sc. or B.Sc. in engineering with at least 5 years of experience in purchasing/sales or engineering.
• You have a big commercial interest, are result oriented, have a strong ability to take initiative, are able to handle multiple open cases and have the ability to look ahead and think strategically.
• You are good at building and maintaining relationships and enjoy having many contacts, both internally and externally.
• You enjoy analytics, fact search and dare to conclude and recommend.
• You are an efficient communicator and can visualize complex matters in an easy and comprehensive way.
• As the role involves a large international network and traveling, you will need to be proficient in both written and spoken English. Swedish is an advantage as well as other language skills.
