R&D Competence Center Manager - ELSP Sweden

In this position you will lead and represent Electrification Smart Power's (ELSP) R&D Competence Center in Västerås, Sweden.
Reporting to the R&D Manager for Hub Central Europe, you will manage a team of almost 50 employees focusing their efforts on the development of softstarters and contactors.
Your responsibilities
Serve as key technical entry point and high-level discussion partner for global R&D management regarding technologies addressed by the local R&D organization.
Implement product roadmaps and growth strategies within the assigned area for the purpose of evolving research and
development in support of business objectives.
Build and maintain a culture of innovation in the competence center. Actively safeguard technical expertise and develop R&D competencies within the unit.
Plan and ensure an optimal project portfolio for the team. Support team and department leads to plan capacity, people and laboratory resources for R&D projects. Ensure efficient, timely and quality project execution within the unit.
Drive knowledge sharing and improvement of processes, through collaboration with other R&D units.
Represent the R&D function in the local management team.
Oversee local R&D budget allocation in accordance with the development roadmap, and following global and local ABB policies (CHTET).
Guide, motivate and develop direct and indirect employees, working with HR to foster talent and motivating team members to maintain a strong culture of excellence.

Your background
Advanced university degree in engineering, physics or related field, and knowledge of some of the key technologies/products addressed in the unit.
Eight to ten years of working experience, with demonstrated track record working as a manager.
Experience with technology/product development processes, intellectual property and/or innovation in an industrial environment.
Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
Effective communicator with a genuine interest to work across organisational boundaries.
