R&D Designer - Additive Manufacturing

Over the past years, Sandvik has invested in an Additive Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Sandviken and several different additive machines are now installed in this R&D center. This paves the way for exciting new products and methods, as well as for new business opportunities, and today we have several products under development for our product portfolio. Even though we have started from a small base we now master the entire process - and our knowledge platform and strong experience from manufacturing, materials and customer accessibility make us unique in this field.

Our new Product Area (PA) Additive Manufacturing (AM), is based at the center in Sandviken, and has a clear growth ambition within Sandvik Machining Solutions (SMS). Therefore, we are now looking for an R&D Designer for Additive Manufacturing – someone who shares our strong ambition for this exciting and fast growing segment. The location for this position is Sandviken.

Job Summary
As an R&D Designer, you contribute with experience and knowledge on an operational level by using suitable methods, tools and processes. By leveraging your knowledge and expertise, and in interaction with other parts of the organization, you are sharing skills and best practice at the center, beyond geographic areas and in internal networks. You evaluate and use methods, tools and processes and follow given instructions and guidelines, continually developing your knowledge in the area. You have no problem taking decisions within a defined time, and you enjoy being the sounding board concerning design issues regarding additive manufacturing. You also ensure that the center has the right software’s for development of the processes, and you work in close cooperation with internal and external customers.



We are looking for someone with a degree in Engineering or extensive experience within the area. You have practical experience from additive manufacturing and knowledge of several of these areas: 3D design for AM or machining, additive manufacturing, powder metallurgy and material characterization. You have good skills in English, both written and verbal, while knowledge of Swedish is advantageous.
